BDSM littered throughout my work

BDSM

One of the reasons why I write BDSM (other than my own filter and biases) is because I want to validate all expressions of it. There are infinite BDSM needs and countless ways to express them. My characters involved in BDSM are on various parts of the spectrum.

Let's begin with characters from my second official BDSM novel that was released at the end of May.

Orion: We see him a bit in Lock and Key. Someone abused Orion’s trust during exchanging power. Orion always wanted to play harder and harder his need for the peace subspace gave him was consuming. The violation he experience broke something inside of him, and he’s decided to stop all attempts of BDSM.

Hunter: He’s a dominant with nothing to prove. Though he longs to guide a sub to reach their full potential, his lover is not submissive. They have an open relationship, but doing scenes here and there doesn’t satisfy him anymore.

Marcus:  He likes to refer to himself as a sadist with a side of masochist.  Marcus likes to make it hurt and share in the sensation. He aches to be the sub Hunter needs but that’s just not who he is. Though since he’s polyandrous maybe they can just find a third, someone who can bridge the gap between he and Hunter.

Entwined Dreams: Book Two
An abusive Dom robbed Orion Gordon of his love of BDSM, destroying his confidence and leaving him unsure he’ll ever find peace through submission to another. Still, deep inside, his longing continues.
Marcus Sadir loves Hunter Dixon, yet can’t be the one thing Hunter truly desires: a sub to control. And Hunter can’t find satisfaction in the sadistic aspects of the BDSM lifestyle, while Marcus thrives on inflicting and sharing pain. When Marcus convinces Hunter they should find a third on a permanent basis, they discover Orion might be the key to bridging their differences and joining them on a deeper level.
But they must help Orion move past his trauma enough for him to enjoy new facets of BDSM and kink again. Their journey toward becoming whole—together—won’t be without challenges. Can Orion trust enough to try again?

Andrew Cohen: wants control, to have the order of things reinforced. In Lock and Key, he’s new to exploring BDSM and excited to learn and experiment with partners. His ex refused to explore it with him and held him back from being who he was meant to be so he shies away from coupling up.

Zack Davis: Discovered his interest BDSM early on.  Zack wants the opportunity to prove himself worthy and to be seen. He’s only 18 when the story starts but has known he wanted BDSM to be his world since he was a kid. (Yes, there are people who know at a very early age. I was 4). All his energy is devoted to making his BDSM dreams a reality.

 Tied Together

Robin Strider: He’s a sub through and through. Robin has strength and determination and a fierce need to serve others.  He derives much of his sexual satisfaction through the practice.

Josh Strider: He is demi-sexual (must have a connection with the person to feel an attraction) Demi-sexual is a spectrum and Josh is probably on the part where he literally only sees Robin. He has no other sexual preferences just Robin. He dominates Robin because that’s what his lover needs. His enjoyment of dominance is the satisfaction Robin obtains from it.

Happy Holidays

Dare: sees BDSM as pure play. Something fun and spicy that gives him a bit of control. There’s no deep need to submit or dominate. Though he does enjoy the subbie connection he felt with Robin in Tied Together… but he doesn’t devote a lot of mental energy to BDSM.

Zombies Suck

Cutter: He’s been damaged and hurt by the world. Cutter seeks to give vent to his pain through self-injury.  BDSM as cure! I hear the screams and criticism, but hear me out. BDSM doesn’t necessarily cure anything. HOWEVER it allows the person to stop thinking of an issue and sometimes that mental rest allows them the strength to deal with the problem or think of it in a different way.

Alex: He’s always felt the draw to be a Dominant, but he didn’t feel like one. (Okay, granted this is my commentary that the physical doesn’t have to have anything to do with being dominant or not… though he did go through a secondary transition). He learned, studied and practiced how to exchange power.

These are just some of the ways my characters find satisfaction in BDSM. I believe all expressions of BDSM are valid.

Many hugs,
